Shere Khan is a Bengal Tiger and is the main antagonist of Rudyard kipling's The Jungle Book.

Role in the bookEdit

Shere Khan appears in the book as a man-eating tiger with a jackal sidekick named Tabaqi. His main goal is to Kill the man-cub, Mowgli. He has a lame leg in the book. Towards the end of the book, he is killed by Mowgli.

The 1967 adaptationEdit

In the film, he does not have a lame leg. But, he does want to kill Mowgli. He first appears as trying to hunt a Chital Deer, but is foiled. Then, he is shown as suspecting that Kaa, the snake is hiding Mowgli. Then, he tries to kill Mowgli, but is foiled by Mowgli, Baloo, and the Vultures. In The Jungle Book 2, Shere Khan seeks revenge on Mowgli for humiliating him.
